Recently, Tesla Automotive (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. have filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation by the "Defective Automobile Product Recall Management Regulations" and the "Measures for the Implementation of the Defective Automobile Product Recall Management Regulations". Effective immediately, they are recalling certain imported Model S, Model X, and domestic Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles produced between October 15, 2020, and July 17, 2024, totaling 1,683,627 vehicles.
For some vehicles within the recall scope, the front trunk latch assembly system may fail to detect that the front trunk lid is unlocked after it is unlocked. In extreme cases, this could cause the front trunk lid to open while the vehicle is in motion, obstructing the driver's vision and increasing the risk of collision, posing a safety hazard.
Tesla Automotive (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will provide free software upgrades via over-the-air (OTA) technology for the recalled vehicles, allowing them to detect faults in the front trunk latch and issue text and audible warnings if the front trunk is not properly locked. They will also provide free repairs for vehicles found to have front trunk latch issues to eliminate safety risks. For vehicles that cannot be upgraded via OTA, the companies will contact the relevant users through their service centers to implement the recall.
Tesla Automotive (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will notify the affected vehicle owners through registered mail, SMS, and other means, and arrange for the recall repairs.
